So… yeah… it’s been a while, huh?

I didn’t mean to drop off the face of the internet, really I didn’t. I got an email the other day from a longtime reader, gently inquiring as to my well-being since it had been a month since I’d updated. A month? Surely not! It’s only been a couple of days, right?

Or maybe a week?

Two weeks?

GULP

Truth be told I have a hard time blogging when my real life house isn’t in order and truth be told my house has not been in order. Quite frankly, it’s been a shambles. You see, about a month ago I impulsively decided to do a little redecorating… nothing terribly ambitious, just replacing half a room’s worth of peeling and long despised kitchen wallpaper. Well a little bit of a windfall coupled with my pathologically optimistic nature and that sensible modest plan quickly morphed into the gargantuan effort of redoing all of the wall treatments on the first floor, which then (of course) necessitated new window treatments, which then (not surprisingly) inspired me in a slipcover-ly direction, which then (alarmingly) gave rise to visions of decorating schemes which can be changed out on a seasonal basis.

Oh my.

So yeah, lots going on here. And not a lot of tidy-ness happening hereabouts.  And I suppose with that tidbit of information you really needn’t wonder what’s been keeping me busy for the last few weeks, or why I haven’t had the spare time or energy to update… I’m up to my earlobes in paint scrapings and in over my head with half-sewn draperies. Oh my goodness, me.

But it’ll all be worth it. Soon.

At least that’s what I keep telling the kids.

yup

It WILL be worth it! Did you take “before” pictures? They always make the “after” pictures much more dramatic. Plus, it’s easier than saying, “see this beautiful wall? It used to be a hideous color…trust me.” ;o) I enjoy redecorating and minor construction projects. They can renew a space with a minor monetary investment if you have the right elbow grease.

P.S. We won’t discuss the mumble…2…mumble…months…mumble of silence on my blog. I have nothing like your excuse…er, reason. ;o)

So great to hear from you! I, too, was wondering just the other day about you! Looking at your biscuit mix made me think of you and realize I haven’t read anything from you lately.

So glad all is well and you’re just busy, busy! Happy redecorating . . . or something like that! :)

It sounds like a lot of fun, though! Well, except for actually peeling the wallpaper.

Well dear girl, that sounds like fun!

However it hasn’t been fun to be wondering what is going on! Now that you’ve told us we must see the chaos! Photos please! You know it will make us all feel better about our own project messes!

Yay! I love home re-do projects : ) I am so glad you are doing well and just busy.
Isn’t that the way it always goes? If I just paint/change/fix this little thing then it will be ok, but now this looks shabby/old/blah so if I paint/change/fix this then it will be ok, but now….
and around and around we go. Personal experience talking here ;) I hope you will post lovely pictures of all the afters when you are done : )

I so get this. We have been doing lots of very physical things of late: horse barn cleaning, grooming, riding, and such. I have been extra tired (and sore) the last few weeks and have not written much on my own blog this month. I cannot wait to see the pictures of your home improvements!

It is funny how our blog readers become our parents checking up on us and wondering what we are up to, how our health is, and if we are going to post those photos of our last adventure! You sound horribly busy. I used to be you, but now I do not do anything that I cannot throw money at…well, except for painting…that is as far as I am willing to go.

    Lady Anne says:

Glad I stirred the pot a bit, Diane, and thanks for the link to my new blog. I’m all too familiar with the “spaghetti theory” of projects. “All I’ll do is…and then THIS needs to be spruced up, and y’know THAT looks pretty sad, now that the rest is done” and suddenly it’s gone from putting up new kitchen curtains to redoing the entire first floor! Been there, done that.

    Ace says:

For goodness sake! I admit, you had me worried.

I will need to see some photos of course.

It is terrifying how one little update can quickly lead to “you know, I have always wanted to take down that wall…where is my sledgehammer?”

Look forward to your next update :)

Sounds like quite an undertaking, but I agree that the result will be worth it. We’ve been doing a lot of remodeling, in our house in Raleigh. It’s frustrating for me that so many interruptions keep occurring (we are in China at the moment, for example), but I dream of the day when all the re-decorations, etc are finished. My big project at home is turning Jeannette’s childhood room into my office. Bitter sweet! (see my second post at maythursdayschild.blogspot.com). Since she is getting married in May, I guess it’s time!

So excited for you! What a journey! We are working on some updates around this house. I am excited too!
I might just have to mosey my way over to your home when I am in NY next and just get a check-see to see how all is fairing. We miss you so much! I will be in NY 2x’s this year!
