Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle…

My post title today is actually a quote from an early Christian philosopher, Philo of Alexandria The first time I read his thoughts they changed me. Ever since, I have tried to live my life centered on that philosophy of gentle compassion.

A few days ago the wonderful mam posted a video that put me so in mind of the spirit of those quietly challenging words, I just had to share it with all of you…

“This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Administer true justice;

show mercy and compassion to one another.

Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor.

In your hearts do not think evil of each other.’

Zechariah 7:9,10

What a convicting reminder. I am too guilty of just barging through my day thinking thoughts like the young man did at the beginning.

barbara… i think we're all guilty of that! i know the Lord has to keep telling me this same thing over and over in my life… maybe eventually i'll finally, really, truly "get" it:)

    Ganeida says:

This is the word of the Lord God to you all, a charge to you all in the presence of the living God; be patterns, be examples in all countries, places, islands, nations, wherever you come; that your life and conduct may preach among all sorts of people, and to them. Then you will come to walk cheerfully over the world, answering that of God in every one; whereby in them ye may be a blessing, and make the witness of God in them to bless you: then to the Lord God you shall be a sweet savour, and a blessing.George Fox.

It's all to easy to forget that others too are made in the image of God & should be treated accordingly. Loved the video. Where can I get the glasses?

I must say that I really enjoyed the video. Thanks you so much for posting. I have recently encountered your blog and really enjoy reading along: ) I hope it is alright if I comment here, just let me know. My blog is private but I would be glad to send an invite if you would like, but honestly it is mostly just accounts of the day : ) Anyways, I don't like to read someone regularly without inviting them to mine, it just doesn't seem neighborly. I was a single mom for 7 years and I am glad to see you thriving in your family. God Bless, Ash

    Dear Mrs. S

Thank you for commenting on my blog. You are welcome there anytime. :) My mom showed me the video. It taught me to think about what someone else is thinking.
P.S. I would like those glasses.
    P.S.S. I typed this :)

This is poignant and necessary conviction for my heart.

    Thank you. ((( hug )))

    one more thing…

Think of others as more important than ourselves. How often I (we) have been on the receiving end of someone's impatience, only to do the same thing to someone else.

The 'glasses' we need is being filled with God's precious Holy Spirit, to see things and others as He sees them and to be willing to be used in whatever way He desires.
